Quebec Covid data--How is Premier Legault's math?
If you have been following my posts, I have been covering the Covid data across Canada. You might say, “We’re done with Covid data now”. Well, you may be right as most Covid restrictions are gone. The USA just ended their vaccine requirement for travel today (May 12/2023). So in that sense, the Covid vaccine effectiveness is still a topic with relevance even now. We also need to take some time to re-evaluate the data and look at whether our public health officials were justified in creating such division, segregation, and discrimination on the unvaccinated.
This post will look at the Canadian Province of Quebec, our French speaking Province.
Those who might remember, Quebec Premier, Francois Legault threatened to charge the unvaccinated a “health contribution” for deciding not get vaccinated. This happened in Jan 2022, just before the now famous Trucker Protest began. I’m sure this discriminatory policy, in part, pushed many Quebecers over the edge to support the Trucker Protest.
What was Legault’s justification?
Here are some of his quotes,
“There are consequences on our healthcare network,” he said in French. “And it’s not up to all Quebecers to pay for this.”
Legault says that 10% of the unvaccinated take up 50% of ICU hospital beds across the province
He says the amount will be “significant” but didn’t reveal how much the amount could be. The premier says $50 to $100 is not “significant enough.”
“the unvaccinated occupy a disproportionate number of hospital beds and should be required to pay an additional contribution to the health-care system.”
Did Legault’s numbers add up?
Quebec Public Health Stopped publishing their Covid cases, hospitalizations, and ICU admissions in April 2022. Here is the last report I could find which shows this data. It shows data up to March 21, 2022, which I only a few months after Legault made his discriminatory threats to the unvaccinated.
If you do a little translation in English and put in it a spreadsheet here’s what you get.
What do we have here?
For the 28 days prior to March 12, 2022, these are the numbers.
Vaccination Rate
Vaccinated 91% (3rd dose 56.7%, 31.7% 2 dose, 2.2% 1 dose)
Unvaccinated 9%
Covid cases
Vaccinated 95.6% (72.4% 3 dose, 22.1% 2 dose, 1% 1 dose)
Unvaccinated & 1st dose 14 days 3.3%
Covid hospitalizations
Vaccinated 87% (64.7% 3 dose, 20.2% 2 dose, 2.1% 1 dose)
Unvaccinated & 1st dose 14 days 13%
Covid ICU admissions
Vaccinated 78.2% (54% 3 dose, 23% 2 dose, 1.1% 1 dose)
Unvaccinated & 1 dose 14 days 21.6%
Why combine 1 dose 14 days with the Unvaccinated?
Public Health officials will say that it takes 14 days for the immune system to adapt to the vaccination and therefore the vaccination takes 14 days to begin to provide protection. Because of this they still consider them unvaccinated so they combine them in the Unvaccinated stats.
This is a problem which inflates the “Unvaccinated” stats
The Government of Canada admits that vaccination for many causes side effects which can last for days. So if someone goes to hospital due to vaccination side effects and they test positive for Covid, they are counted as an Unvaccinated Covid hospitalization. This clearly inflates the hospitalization and potentially ICU stats for the Unvaccinated.
According the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) most deaths from the jab occurred within the first few days after vaccination. You can see that close to 10,000 people have died within the first few days after vaccination. If those people died with a positive covid test, they are recorded as an “Unvaccinated” death and most likely was also an “Unvaccinated” hospitalization or ICU admission.
Do you see how this messes with the numbers and inflates things. Once you get a vaccine injection, you are “vaccinated” and whatever results after that should be recorded in the vaccinated stats, good or bad.
The unvaccinated should only be those who have never been jabbed.
Knowing this, the numbers still look bad even with the statistical number fudging.
The Vaccinated account for 91% of the population over 11 years old, yet they account for 95.6% of Covid Cases, 87% of Covid hospitalizations, and 78.2% of ICU admissions.
What about the 3 dose Boosted?
The 3 dose Boosted account for 56.7% of the population over 11 years old, yet they account for 72.4% of Covid Cases, 64.7% of Covid Hospitalizations, and 54% of ICU admissions.
What did Premier Legault say again?
“the unvaccinated occupy a disproportionate number of hospital beds and should be required to pay an additional contribution to the health-care system.”
Legault says that 10% of the unvaccinated take up 50% of ICU hospital beds across the province
First almost all (95.6%) of all Covid cases are Vaccinated.
The “Vaccinated” are dominating the “Spread”.
If you look at who is taking up most of the hospital beds, it is the “boosted” who are dominating the hospitalizations (72.4%) not the “unvaccinated” (13%).
The Unvaccinated are not taking up 50% of the ICU, the real stats say 21.8% and that 21.8% includes those with 1 dose for 14 days, so it is most likely much less.
Sorry Legault, to use the terminology that the mainstream uses,
your stats are DEBUNKED.
Premier Legault should no longer be trusted as a reliable source of Public Health information. I haven’t heard any apologies from Legault for promoting this discriminatory nonsense which he could potentially be charged for hate speech.
